Mangawhai Hilltop Retreat is our private guest accomodation in the picturesque rolling hills of Northland countryside. Just 90 minutes from the Auckland CBD, this stylish and cosy 'Scandi' loft offers a personal mini-retreat space for solo or couple guests. Immerse yourself in awe inspiring panoramic landscape, spanning from sparkling sea to spectacular sunset. Sink into expansive calm and peace under blue black starry skies, and breathe deep the halo of native trees. Leave your alarms behind, wake with the light, sleep with the true dark, and reset your circadian rhythms in our super comfy bed of stonewashed natural linens.

Private yoga sessions can be added to your stay, and we cater a simple nutritious organic breakfast. We can also book you in with our divine holistic massage therapists from Te Arai Wellness Collective. You won't even need to leave the house.

Walk along exquisite local beaches, through native bush trails to waterfalls, or simply rest and relax with a good book. There's even a private yoga and meditation room in your guest accommodation: practice to your heart's content, or lay back and cloud watch.  Ipod dock, colouring books and vintage scrabble are all there to play.

Hilltop Retreat is a uniquely crafted and beautiful place to completely rest your body and reset your mind space. Upstairs in our self-contained barn is a spacious, peaceful loft bedroom and a separate yoga room, both with dormer windows connecting you to the stunning landscape, sunrise, and sunset. Thoughtfully designed details abound in this stylish yet humble space. Luxury designer queen-size bed with stonewashed linen or 100% cotton sheets. The loft is super insulated and double glazed, so stays warm, dry, peaceful and cosy.

Downstairs is your own private kitchen, diner, and bathroom. Kitchen has a kettle, fridge and toaster for your use (please note there are no cooking facilities). We can include optional seasonal breakfast of homemade organic porridge with fruit and yoghurt, or toast and preserves for $10 per person per night. Please let us know when you book. Locally roasted coffee and boutique organic teas are complimentary. Pure rainwater to drink and shower in. The local village of Mangawhai has various cafes and places to eat, we have recommendations for you to eat out. If you want to stay in and completely retreat, we are happy to discuss your requirements for nourishment, please ask! We love to cook simple and delicious vegetarian food (*we need advance warning as the shops are far away!).

Reviews

"The most wonderful, relaxing space to retreat to this weekend. Even in the middle of a storm, we couldn’t think of a place we’d rather be! The loft was super cosy, warm and clean. All the details made everything special - from the organic cow’s milk to the little eye masks to sleep in. Our highlight was a private yoga session with Katy. The most lovely, accommodating host and teacher - we highly recommend a lesson, you certainly won’t regret it. Thank you Katy, we’ll be back again, that’s for sure!" Courtney and Blake, April 2018

“Magic. Wonderful. Highly evolved. Spiritually ergonomic. There are not enough stars for this review; Katy is a superb host with a beautiful space, and she shares her positive energy and her home with gusto. We feel lucky to have spent time here and wish it was for a longer stay!” Dave and Vanessa, Melbourne April 2018

"Katy is a great host and even wrote us a personal note on arrival - a lovely touch. The place is very cute and was the perfect place for a couple to get away from the city. Her interior design flair is very on trend and 'scandi' - even with mugs from Norway, we felt like we had gone to Europe! Be sure to order the breakfast, it was delicious and great value for money, being organic and spray-free. Also if you can fit in a yoga class, you won't regret it!" Paula and Ed, Auckland March 2018
